Terrorismusforschung in der Informationswissenschaft konzentriert sich auf die inhaltliche Analyse von Dokumenten von und zu terroristischen Organisationen. Dies schließt auch Microblogs über solche Organisationen (beispielsweise ISIS) und Reaktionen auf terroristische Anschläge (wie z. B. Charlie Hebdo) ein. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die Indexierung, informetrische Auswertung und Inhaltsanalyse der Schriften terroristischer Organisationen (wie Dabiq and Rumiyah vom Islamischen Staat) gelegt.
